Langport merger deal with Shepton Mallet.
There are increasing concerns Langport is to be merged with Shepton Mallet. Somerset County Council refused to comment but the rumours follow news another charity shop launches this weekend on Bow Street. The Fern Animal Sanctuary will open at Boilertec's old premises on Saturday.
(Even the words 'Boilertec's old premises' are causing confusion, the hardware shop has relocated 8 times since January and it's widely suspected the business is gradually moving towards East Croydon.)
Meanwhile, Langport's 'original' animal charity shop - Rushton on North Street at Lucinda's former premises (which has relocated to Mothercare) - says it "welcomes the competition" but the manager, seen dating an entire boyband at the Halfway House last night, said her charity shop would still be refusing to sell second hand sandwiches, despite pressure from the Langport Chamber of Commerce.
The manager at the North Street charity shop - above left - is still refusing to put Langport Arms carvery leftovers in her window.
