Somebody has to sit in the chair!
Both Langport and Huish councillors will elect their chairmen next week. Langport's 11 members, some old and some new and all voted in on May 7th, have to decide whether to stick with Julia Gadd or maybe go for someone different. One name being banded about is Councillor Janet Seaton - who also sits on Huish Episcopi Parish Council.
Huish itself didn't have an election on May 7th but still intends to vote in a new chair next week. It's widely thought councillors will keep Shirley Nicholas who is apparently popular with members after reportedly being "generous with the gin" during meetings in recent years.
Dame Shirley, photographed at a hot tub near the Hanging Chapel last week, is likely to be re-elected as Huish Episcopi Parish Council's Leader.
Huish's 9 Parish Councillors meet to elect a leader on Monday at 7pm at the auditorium at Huish Sixth Form College. Langport elects its chair at the Town Hall on Tuesday, the meeting begins at 7.30pm. Both events are open to the public.
Councillor Ian McNab, pictured outside his workshop in Wick this week, got the most overall votes in the recent Langport Town Council election but it's not known if he intends to stand for the chairmanship.
