Hell freezes over...

...as Eli's buys a brand new pool table...

The entire population of Huish and Langport did a massive double-take over the weekend as the Rose and Crown took delivery of a brand new pool table. Stock markets across the world rose sharply on hearing the news but then plummeted again when dealers heard the price of a game has gone up to £1 from the previous 70p. The new table has been warmly welcomed by locals though.
"It's marvellous!" said one pool enthusiast whose wife was killed when she put her hands too far into the sliding coin delivery system while using the old pool table last year.
"The new pool table and equipment arrived last week" said landlord Steve Pittard "and we are delighted to say that we now have smooth shafts and clean balls."
It's understood that the old table, which was the cause of several deaths and amputations over the years, has been sold to a local pool player despite the British Museum offering Eli's several thousand pounds for it. There are no further details.

It's believed that the old pool table at Eli's, pictured above on New Year's Day, has been sold to a local enthusiast.
