Celebrations...

As 'local' pub goes through to the regional pub scrabble championships

There've been 'sore heads' at a local pub this week after a group of customers got through to the semi-finals of the Wessex inter-pub scrabble championships, sponsored by Waddingtons.

The game started spreading across parts of Somerset earlier this summer.

"It really has become quite infectious" said one Langport player, "yes...it's all over the place" said another.

This picture was taken at the quarter final last weekend and clearly shows some of the local team's skillful moves.

Moments later they played their winning hand and totally wiped out the opposition (and most of the surrounding villages) with 'gonorrhea', scoring a whopping 65 points.

On-lookers at the pub were delighted with the win and gave the team a good clap...apparently for the fourth time this month.

The final is expected to be played some time before Christmas, we'll bring you more details as they come in.
