New village signs on the way...
This is the design of four new signs soon to be put on road sides into Huish Episcopi.
The village's old signs have gradually disappeared in recent years. Speaking on the phone from her London home on Gin Lane, parish chair Dame Shirley Nicholas told Carry On Langport the new signs should be delivered sometime soon from the roads department at Somerset County Council.
Huish Episcopi is geographically wrapped around its smaller neighbour of Langport on 3 sides - and it's long been a topic of discussion where exactly the town ends and the village begins. Some people even have homes standing over the boundary lines.
"I'm having one of the new signs put up on the wall outside the bathroom"
said Janet Seaton, who chairs Langport Town Council but also sits on the parish authority at Huish.
In other news, housing developers have put in a revised planning application for a cluster of new homes on never-before-built-on land on the fields over the wall opposite Newtown Road.
The above picture is believed to be an artist's impression of what the new development would look like from down on the moors.
