Pussy Probe at High Ham

Christmas Tree 'abused' at King's Head

The Royal Botanical Gardens says it's investigating claims a cat has been abusing a Christmas tree at High Ham. This photograph was allegedly taken at The King's Head on Sunday evening.

Speaking on the phone this morning - as she signed arrest warrants for Bow Street residents displaying Christmas Trees in their front windows - celebrity treehugger Cara Naden, Langport Town Council's vice-chairman,  said she was "disgusted" by the picture.

Pictured above with her partner at Turn Hill Woods last weekend, she told Carry On Langport the pub's Norwegian Pine was now at the Fivehead Tree hospital in recovery.

Speaking on the steps outside the building, surgeon Andrew Glide (BSC, NCH Arb, ABBA) told reporters the tree was in a critical but stable condition after having a 4-hour operation to "extract cats whiskers from its upper bush"

The pub cat - known as Charlie - hasn't been seen since.

Several King's Head drinkers have been arrested and the inquiry continues.
