UNDERCOVER PRAM RACE

S&M fans say they hope Kingsbury relay race will still take place...

Langport Freemasons, the entire second floor at Portcullis House old people's home and S&M fans across the UK say they've got "everything crossed" in the hope that Kingsbury Episcopi's annual fancy dress pram race will go ahead as usual later this year - despite the news of the cancellation of the village's May Festival.

The event's Facebook Page reports that the much-loved day out for all the family won't be allowed to take place as usual over the May Day weekend due to health and safety concerns.

"Ridiculous" said one villager, "what's dangerous about selling pillow cases, hanging baskets and chutney in the high street?"

"How ironic" said another, "that just down the road at Thorney every year you're allowed to tie your children to a pile of old school chairs, throw them in the river and compete in the raft race...but up here at Kingsbury we can't have two and a half thousand people queuing at the bar at The Wyndham Arms"

Carry On Langport understands that 'some sort' of May Day celebrations will still take place in Kingsbury over that weekend - but that it all may have to be 'undercover'
