VIEWS SO FAR:

Carry On Langport's Archives

Saturday 4 March 2017

Whoops...

On behalf of the Western Gazette...

Regarding the front page of the latest edition of our award-winning local newspaper, Carry On Langport feels it necessary to publish a brief but important clarification.

The Gazette reports that "thanks to the generosity of the people of Langport" - a feasibility study into a new railway station for the town is now a step closer to becoming a reality.

These studies cost money and the article goes on to report that the town council has contributed £3000 towards that cost.

Therefore, it only seems right to point out that it's the town council that has been generous with our money - not us local taxpayers.

We didn't have anything to do with that decision. So if you happen to be against the idea of a new station...well...the town council is handing over the money anyway.

Apart from that, the Gazette's report was full, detailed and accurate.
