Election Results...

Tories keep control of Somerset County Council - and hold their Langport seat

Yesterday's local election results are in. The Conservatives have not only held Somerset County Council but increased their seat-count at Taunton by 4 to 35 councillors.

Here are the full results:

Con 35 (up 4)
Lib-Dem 12 (down 2)
Labour 3 (no change)
Independent 3 (up 1)
Green Party 2 (up 2)
UKIP 0 (down 3)

The Tory candidate for Langport and the surrounding area held the seat for her party. Clare Aparicio-Paul got 1,801 votes and takes over from her former party colleague Derek Yeomans.

So there ya go - our council remains blue with a Conservative majority of 15 seats. Here's the room at the Shire Hall in Taunton where they all sit when the full council next meets:

Next elections? June 8th (nothing important)

That's it for now - more news as it comes in.
