PARISH POLL

 For Langport-registered electors

A quick reminder - it's the Langport Parish Poll today, a vote on how future decisions on the Hanging Chapel should be handled.

The question on the ballot paper will be:

Should the future of the Hanging Chapel be subject to consultation and scrutiny by the electors of Langport?

The opinion of this blog, the one hundred people who turned up at a parish meeting last month and the 14-hundred who signed a petition is YES.

The Editor of The Sun told us on the phone last night "If the NO vote wins in the Langport parish poll tomorrow then will the last person to leave the town please turn the lights out"

- there's some confusion over what today's referendum is about among some Langport voters though...

"I've never had a Pole before..." said a Whatley woman, "...not like my sister...she's had 3"

The polling station today is inside the ground floor of the town hall and voting hours are 4 til 9pm.

Polling cards haven't been sent out - and we're not entirely sure if you need some form of ID to vote or if you can just walk in and have your name ticked off on the register of electors.

Sorry about that...that's cheap unregulated internet journalism for you.

Anyhow - get out and vote....and then we can get on with the town council nominations and elections which are at a later date.
