Someone's getting a facelift...

 ...and it's about time!

Over 70 years after the Hiroshima blast which damaged it so badly...Langport Town clock is to finally get a facelift.

Since its launch almost 3 years ago, Carry On Langport has been campaigning (moaning) to get the town's unofficial emblem sorted out.

Barely visible faces and a mysterious shadow of a 'third hand' have meant Bow Street and Cheapside have been in completely different time zones since about 2008.

"It depends which side you're looking at" said a local driver...as she listened to the 11 o'clock news on her car radio outside Cafe Arteazen at half past 5.

We can now reveal The Cumbria Clock Company Ltd is the chosen contractor to do the work. Langport's Victorian time piece will have to be taken down for about 4 weeks.

 Here's the painful bit...

The bill will be an estimated £7000. A public fundraising project is expected to be launched in March.

So how's Langport going to find the money? Sponsored events involving our local councillors maybe?

"Good idea!" said the town clerk, "It's marvellous what you can do with a muck-spreader these days."

Carry on Langport readers are being asked to start thinking and get their ideas in.

In the meantime, raise a glass...the clock's finally being done up!

 - about bleedin' time.
