Carry On Up The...

Khyber Parret!

A bid for a £200,000 grant to spend on Cocklemoor, Blackbridge and other river-related facilities has already successfully passed stage one of the application process.

Now, to help Langport Town Council get through stage two, it is asking for public input.

There are open discussions on the projects at Hurds Hill this week and you are urged to get involved.

How the stretch of the river bank looks from Black Bridge up to Bow Bridge in the coming decades may well be affected by the outcome of the talks.

There are two sessions today (Tues) - you only need attend one - either at 11am or 6.30pm.

If you can't make those then try Thursday, again either at 11am or 6.30pm.

If Langport's bid is successful - some of the plans include pontoons to more easily launch boats, a boardwalk connecting Cocklemoor to Black Bridge, fishing platforms for the disabled, more 'riverside furniture' and more signage.

- also a special all-weather 'courtesy curtain' for local wildlife.

You may not agree with all of these or see a need - or you may like to influence how it all ends up looking. So get up the road to Hurds Hill this week (over Bow Bridge towards Curry, round the bend and up the drive on the left) and get involved and help the town win its bid for £200,000.
