He's got a point...

Persimmon Homes spokesman defends hedge removal.

As contractors for Persimmon Homes make final preparations to dig out the stumps of the avenue of beech trees, the story has appeared on the front page of this week's Western Gazette.

The paper reports on the protest outside the on site sales office earlier this month with quotes from angry demonstrators.

At the end of the Gazette report is a quote from a Persimmomn Homes manager who points out that the removal of the hedge was legal and was clearly stated in the original planning application some years ago.

- and he's got a point. Where were the protestors (and indeed our local councillors) then?

It's a bit like complaining about a new road on the day they put the cats eyes in.

Apologies to come over a bit harsh but the valiant protests over the removal of the trees were too little too late.

The lesson here must be that if we object to planning applications, we need to get in there early and at the same time give our parish, town and district councillors a kick up the arse.

- and talking of planning...

The Town Council's put in for a boardwalk stretching from Cocklemoor to Black Bridge. For further details click on this link: (then click on the 'comments' tab to leave feedback with the district council)
