WORK SUSPENDED ON LANGPORT RAILWAY

'Wrong type of badger'

Work on underpinning the railway embankment on Langport Moor has been suspended in recent days due to a badger set being discovered on the site.

Network Rail says it thought the animals were "moved on" [industry code for squashed] by the 15:10 to Exeter several weeks ago, but not so.

So now everything's been put on hold for animals whose growing numbers over the last 30 years have decimated the ground-nesting bird population, eaten all the slow worms and virtually wiped out Britain's hedgehogs.

There are no further details, except to say that Brian May fans should send their complaints about this story to the blog's Facebook page.
