LANGPORT WOMAN FINDS RIVER.
This photograph went viral on social media across Langport last night sparking rumours the River Parrett was now visible from Cocklemoor.
But it was soon exposed as a fake, when it emerged the local had to leave Cocklemoor to achieve her goal.
So unfortunately folks...
...this is still the view of much of the waterway from Langport's most popular public space this summer.
Not only an eyesore but a health and safety issue. Any swimmers or boaters in difficulty cannot be seen or, indeed, got to.
Earlier this week three local men were seen clearing a short stretch of the 6-foot high weeds themselves.
- and the result was an immediate improvement. Well done lads.
Town Council, if you've found the time to hire contractors to erect 'comedy' bird hides [the location not the design], information boards and a new fishing platform [being built this week] why couldn't you have found time to sort this...weeks ago.
The river's the reason we all go to Cocklemoor in the first place, but it's now almost completely obscured by rapeseed, stinging nettles and dock. They're all weeds. Nothing beautiful about it.
Hey ho, let's see if it gets sorted sometime soon.
Rant over
👍
Be sure to log in again soon to read all about some of the next 'vital' plans for Cocklemoor - including: an amusement arcade up a tree, a VHS player repair shop and a Dodo-spotting platform.
Brilliant.
