THE LAST DRINK...

It's a topsy turvy world!

So Somerset has gone in to tier 3 and for the first time since....er.....well no it's the first time ever actually. Let's type that again - so for the first time on record, only one of Langport's traditional and original 'drinking parlours' is open this Christmas.

The Langport Arms says it'll keep its doors open to drinkers until around 5pm today [Christmas Eve] and to make your visit legal, the hotel is offering drinkers a tiny 'free' burger to get you through. Sounds like a plan!

The hotel bar's not open on the 25th and after that, well you know the story.

So for the first time in living memory Langport's almost come full circle. How poignant that its oldest licensed premises is now the only traditional licensed premises open this Christmas. Well, today anyhow.

The town's never seen anything like it, what a topsy turvy world eh? Thank you Langport Arms and roll on the days when all our locals - The Swan, the Rose & Crown, The Halfway House - are back up and running 👍

However you spend Christmas - look after your mates, neighbours, family and friends.....and yourself!

For those of you facing tomorrow [and the coming days and weeks] alone - sounds like the best place to be Christmas morning and afternoon will be Cocklemoor and its riverside walks. Just like earlier this year...it will again be a place to exercise, get fresh air, gather your thoughts and bump in to other human beings.

You've all heard it said umpteen times this year, but we are so lucky to live around here.

Have a happy Christmas and here's to a slightly less awful 2021!
