Cheese & Wine Town Hall party row latest....

Councillors deny all knowledge of 'everything'

Several members of Langport Town Council are continuing to deny growing allegations that they had an illegal cheese and wine staff party at the town hall during covid retrictions last Christmas.

In a new development, a video has now surfaced of the gathering in the old ballroom [pictured]  in December 2020.

In the secretly recorded footage members are alleged to have mingled without social distancing and talked and even joked about a number of local issues including merging the town council with Huish Episcopi, unblocking the closed-off Priest Lane footpath, getting the floating pontoons off the river before the rainy season and checking the recent expensive repair work on the town clock was ever actually insured.

But a council spokesperson's reacted angrily to the claims.

"Don't be daft" she said, "we never talk about anything that sensible when we get together"

Some news outlets have also attempted to drag members of Huish Episcopi Parish Council into the row.

But member John Wood MBE said there was no point in asking them.

"The parish council has no idea if we were at the party or not" he said, "we've had so much Chardonnay since the first lockdown you may as well ask the cat"

So we did...but it just wanted to know why the late night pet shop had closed on Bow Street.

There are no further details.
