Back in the day, when your television packed up or had problems you didn't dump it and go out and buy another one. You got it fixed.
And here across the Langport and Huish Episcopi area one man you may have turned to was Nigel Gratton. Here he is advertising in an old edition of Roundabout Magazine back in the 80s:
Whether your vertical hold was misbehaving or the HTV button kept flying out across the front room every time you pressed Westward, Nigel could usually help.
He also ran a local disco called G&N Sound and even got locals records when they'd seen one they liked on Top of the Pops.
We're sad to say Nigel passed away last month at the age of 80.
Condolences to his family.
The funeral will take place at St Mary's Church, Huish Episcopi, on Thursday at 2pm.
Cheerio Nigel and thanks for all your tinkering! We wouldn't have got through the golden age of television without you!
