In a row over pupil footwear, Huish Episcopi Academy appears to have introduced a new subject on the curriculum this week: GCSE Parent Upsetting.
Looks like a style of shoe previously perfectly acceptable at the premises is no longer on the 'appropriate' list, prompting managment to actually bar pupils from lessons as they realised this term that several of them - shock horror - were still wearing the 'old type' of shoe.
Sound the alarms! Call in the Army! Re-open the Nightingale hospitals!
It's emerged pupils wearing the now 'wrong' footwear were kept out of lessons and put in 'isolation' prompting an angry backlash from parents in recent days.
Ok this is where it all starts to sound slightly unhinged so let's let the parents takeover from here with a selection of posts on social media.
There are dozens but here are 3 of them to give a flavour of what's being said:
To read through the lot, including some defence of Huish Academy, go to the Langport & Huish Episcopi Community Group on Facebook.
Daring to venture an opinion, Carry On Langport would perhaps say that whatever the rights and wrongs of the new rules are - the whole 'isolation' thing sounds a tad heavy handed.
Giving them two weeks grace to allow the parents time to sort it all out would have been far more reasonable surely, but holding pupils with the wrong shoes on in the gym? Really?
No doubt this one will rumble on and on.
Either way, whatever your views and even if you're not a parent, it all makes good reading and far more entertaining than Cindy Beale being back on Eastenders this week.
[her shoes were awful]
That's all we've got tonight folks, thanks for the contributions and carry on reading!
