There are 11 seats up for grabs at the Town Hall. Some of the above candidates have their own websites/blogs. You can probably find them via Google. Others are also standing for the district council and of course some are already on Langport Town Council and seeking re-election such as Old Father Time himself Chris Osborne and Defender of The Faith Julia Gadd.
Good luck to Julia, Chris and everybody taking part - whether old or new to local politics - and whoever wins....can we please get Langport clock cleaned up, the place is beginning to look more like the town hall at Chernobyl.
The vote is on general election day May 7th, which is also the day voters in South Somerset choose their district councillors. This means the ballot papers for Langport voters will be rather large. Take a flask and a packet of Jaffa Cakes into the polling booth, you may be some time.

There'll be no similar election for Huish Episcopi Parish Council. There weren't enough nominations from the village to trigger a vote. Its leader Shirely Nicholas and vice-chairman Graham Lock, pictured above on the gin at a local cricket match last weekend, are said to be "squirming with delight" at the prospect of another 5 years in office with Dame Shirley reportedly saying she'll "go on and on...and on". Didn't somebody else once say that?
