Langport Surgery declared a 'major incident' this morning when the One Stop doors closed on several shoppers and then wouldn't open again for at least half an hour.
The practice manager, pictured above when she heard what had happened, said she'd "never seen anything like it" and even had to bring Dame Vera Botting out of retirement to come and treat the wounded, many of whom had suffered scratchcard injuries.

It's believed the fault was caused by a power surge at Langport Library where somebody using the internet had just typed "How long has the Langport Arms been for sale?" in the google search box.
Police say the injured One Stop customers included a waiter from Rumours who was taken to A&E with a severed chorizo, two blow-up dolls from a recent Langport Stores window display, eight Tesco workers stocking up on Sambuca for tomorrow night's 'staff training' (use the side door) and Huish Episcopi's vicar whose cassock was so badly damaged you could see the red wine she'd just shoplifted for tomorrow's holy communion.
Eyewitnesses said the glass sliding doors closed with such speed that they castrated an entire family from Bridgwater who'd just spent £800 on scratchcards.
The family planning association says it's "delighted" and has offered to sponsor the doors for the rest of the year.

It took half an hour to finally open the One Stop doors and dozens of customers then rushed home in panic when they realised most of what they'd just bought would expire in 20 minutes.
