Hanging Chapel 'incident'

Langport Festival in the news...

Organisers of the Langport Festival appear to be playing down an incident at the Hanging Chapel last weekend when the 14th century landmark opened its doors to the public. On Saturday visitors were allowed a rare glimpse inside the Freemasons Lodge at the building. According to several witnesses - who didn't want to be named - all was going well until somebody tried to take a picture.
"I was holding up my i-phone and was just about to photograph the masons' hot tub when the tour guide reprimanded me and got very cross indeed" said one woman. "So I put my phone back in my handbag. But then" she said, "to make matters worse - on the way out I opened the wrong door and realised it was the store cupboard. Inflatable dolls and kippers fell out all over the floor."

This Freemason, who didn't want to be named,  was photographed moments after the cupboard spilled its contents and told reporters he thought it was "hilarious".

We understand the doors were immediately locked, the curtains drawn and that several members of the public who'd seen what had happened were then hypnotized.
A spokesman for the masons, speaking on his mobile phone from the summer knobbly knees quarter finals at Minehead Butlins, denied all knowledge of the incident.

Despite the glitch, Langport Festival is still going strong and anyone wanting more information on this, its final weekend, is urged to see page 9 of this week's Western Gazette or read the notice board in the carpark (not the one on the back of the men's toilets door).
