Strictly Come Langport

Local dancing competition hits the airwaves.

Listeners from across Britain and the colonies will find out more about Langport this week when BBC Radio Four broadcasts a show recorded at The Langport Arms late last year.

'Strictly Come Langport' celebrates the progress made by pupils at The Ginger Fred Dance Studios at Westover throughout the year - and other local learners and dancers also get involved. The event is always a sell-out with professional dancers brought in to team up with the competitors. It's proved so popular in recent years that now even townies at broadcasting house have taken an interest.

The landlords at The Langport Arms, pictured above judging last year's competition, say they're hoping the BBC may even mention tomorrow that the motel is for sale and has been since the first episode of The Archers back in 1865.

But the announcement has caused panic and confusion among Langport and Huish Episcopi's working classes. "What's Radio Four?" said a single Mum at Peony Valley, as she watched another 8 episodes of The Jeremy Kyle Show and Facebooked that she'd just "hoovered the hall".

"What are the working classes?" said the Mayoress of Pitney.

'Strictly Come Langport' goes out on 92-95 FM at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning (that's ten to four if you use Langport clock)
