Halfway House hedgerows 'reveal their secrets'...
Work's been underway this week to prune the overgrown main beer garden at The Halfway House near Pitney. The strip of land, to the side of the pub, was so shaded and hidden by trees and shrubs that many locals didn't even know it was there.
"My red hot poker was completely out of control" said the landlord.
( "it was the first time in months" said his wife )

The work included clearing out the beer garden's surrounding hedgerows which uncovered a history of random objects, slung in the undergrowth over the last 20 years.
They included:
4 footballs, 15 pint glasses, 10 beer cans, a trainer, a flip-flop, 2 empty compact disc cases, a small sealed jar of pickled onions and a hammer.
The Halfway House has also revealed that several DNA fragments have been found in the old beer garden hedges, many dating back to the late 1990s and early noughties.
The samples were immediately sent to Scrivens Butchers of Bow Street for analysis.
The pub got the results this afternoon (Weds) but for legal reasons is refusing to identify whose DNA was traced.
Member of staff Handy Andy, who's always 'flat out' at the Halfway's self-service counter, said to avoid court action, they could only say what was found:
George Litchfield's socks
Christina Fulcher's nurse's uniform
Tim Walrond's boxer shorts
Arthur Lynch's rollerskates
Lucy Litchfield's jeans
Greg Bown's bellringing manual
Steve Cooke's Morris Minor keys
Chris Perry's brother
Justin Marks' job

Olivia Litchfield's French Horn
one of Nathan Moore's freckles
Damon Rochefort's handcuffs
& Charlie Harvey's sense of humour
Police say their families have been informed.
