Langport blog's first birthday...

...and still no lawsuits...

Carry On Langport celebrates its first birthday this week. The blog was originally intended to be a supplement to The Roundabout - the local church magazine - but it was decided The Roundabout was far too 'racy' and so Carry On Langport went it alone and first went online in mid-March 2015.

"It's just so reliable" said the Chocolate Gateau Appreciation Society, as they piled off their coach outside the Langport Arms.

"I wouldn't have known anything about the Courtfield ferret escape had it not been for Carry On Langport" said Huish Episcopi Vicar Jess Pitman - who on the morning in question chose to wear protective netting up her cassock.

Mary Coombes told us she appreciated the free advertising, which had been so successful that she'd closed her Huish Episcopi health and beauty parlour and relocated to Castle Cary.

Back at headquarters we get a print-out, thanks to Google, of how many hits or reads a story gets. Here are a few figures to give you an idea of what's been popular. The numbers go up daily and the archive section has also proved popular - which pushes up readership still further.

The statistics below represent how many people have looked at a story from the date it first went online until Sunday 13th March this year. Click on the links to take a look.

Google also tells us which countries people are logging on from. After the UK, the second highest readership is in the United States followed by Ireland and believe it or not Russia, Portugal and Spain (in that order).

But our most avid readers are of course right here in Langport and Huish - and in honour of them I am delighted to publish this photograph...a random grouping of some of Carry On Langport's most loyal followers.

So carry on reading and keep on sending in the pictures of random stuff you see going on about town, much appreciated!

PS - we're still working on the t-shirts....maybe towards May sometime.
