Pitney dancers 'on the run'

Village hall attackers escape custody

Avon and Somerset Police are warning the public not to approach two men suspected of pushing a Pitney pensioner into a bowl of coleslaw last weekend. There've been several sightings of the pair who broke out of Yeovil Police Station on Saturday after being arrested.

They were performing a banned version of the Foxtrot in the village hall on Friday night when they backed into the woman who was catapulted several feet across the buffet.

More details have emerged of the attack, with eyewitnesses saying the men - believed to be civil partners - carried on dancing as their victim wriggled around in red cabbage and carrots on the floor.

"I've never seen anything like it" said a village hall committee member, "our coleslaw usually comes with mayonnaise."

Speaking from her hospital bed, victim Mrs Vivien Winterburn told reporters that all she remembered was a dodgy pair of buttocks thrusting at her out of the darkness and pinning her against a jar of pickled onions. "I spent most of Saturday picking chicken drumsticks out of my underwear" she said.

Anyone with any information leading to the re-arrest of the two men is asked to contact police via the Crimestoppers number.
