Carry On Langport's Archives

Sunday 29 May 2016

What a carry on!

...as Langport and District Friendly Society takes 'wrong route'...

There was confusion yesterday as the organisers of the annual friendly society march around Langport and Huish found it difficult to remember exactly which pubs are open or closed down nowadays.

Several dozen marchers, lead by Kingsbury Town Band, headed through Cheapside and down to the bottom of Bow Street at around half past two...

But then somebody remembered the Dolphin hasn't been open for 12 years...

...and they were forced to u-turn outside the Happy Garden Chinese takeaway...confusing the Western Gazette photographer who was already busy taking close-ups for next week's court pages.

Despite the blunder, the day was an enormous success and as always...the procession blocked the bank holiday traffic in Bow Street....unfuriating townies and city-dwellers trying to get to the M5 and their second homes in Devon and Cornwall. That's what we like...good work chaps.

Let us know how much you raised Billy boy...(not many inches by the sounds of it! ha ha ha ho ho ho tee hee)
