Get that light out!

Confusion at local landmark...

Huish Episcopi residents who thought they'd been seeing things in recent nights have been told to relax...they haven't.

It's emerged the far-reaching power cut caused by the Drayton Air Day disaster, earlier this month, affected the timer on the church tower floodlights at Huish. They've been coming on at midnight and not going off til almost 4 o'clock in the morning. The problem's only just been discovered.

"Thank the lord for that!" said a churchwarden whose bedroom has been flooded with the light from the tower every night for over a week, "I kept thinking it was the second coming!"

"I should be so lucky" mumbled his wife.

"What a relief!" said Langport Town FC's goalkeeper from his home in St Mary's Park, "I thought I'd started seeing flashing lights again."

The timer has now been reset and normal service has been resumed with the church tower floodlights being switched off every night at just after 12 o'clock...until the next time Frank Spencer is asked to peg down a marquee on a windy day in Drayton.
