Bow Street

How far down do you go?

Following last night's report on the relocation of Langport Post Office, some readers have complained that our staff writer described Fosters News Agency as being "at the bottom of Bow Street".

A quick phone call to Royal Ordnance Survey has revealed that the premises are, in fact, more or less halfway down the famous road.

Unfortunately, our reporting error lead to a brawl in the road between staff at Cardamom and Chubby's - both of whom believed their premises had always been 'the epicentre' of Bow Street. We apologise.

"Fosters is still a bloody long way from Ashley House" said a 93 year-old resident of the old people's home at The Avenue, "...thank God I only have to renew my gun licence once a year"

"I'm confused" said a Moorpark Road woman, "I always thought my bedroom was the centre of Langport"

"Only on Thursdays dear" said her mother.

In a further development, The Post Office says its public consultations web page should now be working properly after a handful of Langporters said they couldn't access the site.

Good luck with that, we still couldn't get it to work and so have decided to launch a carrier pigeon off the roof of the Langport Arms tomorrow morning.
