Langport Post Office

Copy of the Daily Mail with your stamps Madam?

An official public consultation has begun on plans by The Post Office to move the Langport branch down to the bottom of Bow Street.

Foster's News Agent would be its new home which would mean longer opening hours compared to its current location, at the bottom of Langport Hill.

The prototype for the new sign outside Fosters has already been made public (below).

Not everyone's keen though, it would mean OAPs at Eastover - for example - drawing their pension would have to walk a far greater distance down Bow Street's famously narrow pavememts...dodging HGV wing mirrors on the way.

But is that any worse than them having to cross on the bend at Post Office corner? - and might not a P.O at the bottom of Langport boost foot fall for businesses at that end of town?

(You could get kebab and chips over at Chubby's while waiting for the queue to go down.)

Or what about putting it in One Stop? Or the library?

The Post Office says it wants our feedback...but the following instructions (below) don't seem to work...see how you get on:

From the official consultation leaflet:

(click on the link below)

Then click where it says "click here if you'd like to comment on a proposed branch change" - then click on "Enter post office branch code" and enter the number [for Langport] 237549 and leave your comments.

But several people have said this link leads to a dead end.

Until it's fixed, you can leave your comments by e-mailing: comments@postoffice.co.uk

In other news, Carry On Langport welcomes and wishes good luck to Bow St Barbers which opens this week at the former Ferne Animal Charity shop just along from Scrivens.

There ya go - draw your pension, cross over and get a kebab and have your beard trimmed all in one morning.

 Lovely jubbly.
