Arrests at Huish Episcopi pub...

 ...as Langport refugees 'swamp' Eli's...

This was the scene at the Rose and Crown yesterday afternoon as cheaper council tax prompted hundreds of Langport residents to break through the Hanging Chapel to Huish Episcopi and camp on the pub's cricket pitch - triggering several arrests.

Police soon rounded up the mob and began carting them off to the cells in Bridgwater, Yeovil and Langport prison (pictured)

Moments before this family were taken away, our reporters asked them to 'raise their hands' if they'd ever shoplifted from Tesco...

...apparently proving claims the refugees were largely made up of criminals.

- this Langport family were also apprehended:

...detectives say they're particularly interested in the two men on the far left in this picture attempting to obscure their faces...it's alleged the pair were seen 'stoking an old boiler' in Aller on Friday night.

Even the Editor of Carry On Langport was arrested.

Here he is settling in with other Bow Street residents at Shepton Mallet prison this morning.

The Home Office says it's still working on a solution to the Langport/Huish Episcopi refugee crisis and said it hoped the pending sale of the Hanging Chapel and its conversion to Starbucks may help the situation.

There are no further details.

The Charity Commission regulates and overseas town trusts. It is Langport Town Trust which appears to be riding roughshod over public opinion, accountability and charity commision rules regarding an alleged 'secret' vote on the future of the hanging chapel.

One trustee and town councillor - Val Saunders - who 'went public' about the issue has been reported to South Somerset District Council for her actions.

The news team at this blog believe it is the town trust that should be reported, not councillor Saunders.

E-mailing the commission can be a tiresome and lengthy process. Sending an old-fashioned letter may be the best way to bring the Langport Trust's leaders to account.
