In light of what 'allegedly' happened at a town council meeting last month and the rumours it created around the town - the town council [the clerk and the leader] has issued a statement.

Not sure it answers any of the questions Carry On Langport's been receiving from readers, nor does it even appear to acknowledge that a vote took place that evening back in June to (we believe) ask the masons if they wanted to buy the centuries-old grade I listed building.
We'll let you be the judge of that.
