Oh that pesky chapel!

Here we go again...

There were discussions about doing it in the 70s and it came to nothing. Then, in the early 80s, talks took place about putting a traffic light there but nothing happened.

Now, that pesky Hanging Chapel is in the news again and it's nothing to do with being sold off, a leaking roof or the Freemasons.

This has appeared on the Langport.life website in recent days: serious consideration may be given to sealing off the Chapel to traffic and make Langport Hill a no through road.

Why? Because the traffic is getting too thick and fast? Because people park right at the top of the hill on both sides making it difficult for drivers to see what's coming up/down? Because everyone up there has 2/3 cars parked outside their homes? Or because the Langport and Huish gentry just want a quieter life?

- and won't making the hill a no through road mean traffic is diverted past both the Academy and the Primary School from both sides? - and clog up the ever-busy Kelways roundabout?

Musical Interlude:

Is the idea the only option or are there others? Who's come up with it? Our town council? (Aren't there only 4 of them at the moment?)

Click on the link below where you can read all about it and send in your feedback to the Highways Agency/Town Council.
