Missing tree mystery?

Now you see it...
Now you don't.

Tree surgeons have this week removed a huge beech tree which, with a couple of others alongside it, has been a feature of the top of Langport Hill for well over a hundred years.

According to locals, it was beginning to lean dangerously and action needed to be taken.

But our old friend 'Conspiracy' Connie isn't having any of it.

"Trees lean a lot more than that before they fall" she snapped "no,no,no - it's obvious what's happened here: townies fed up with the noise the crows in the top make every spring have had it felled to get rid of them" she explained.

We asked what evidence she had but we were too late...she was already marching off to towards the Hanging Chapel with dowsing rods to look for the Freemasons' unlicensed hot tub.

"See if you can get the buggers to park properly as well!" our reporter shouted.

That's it for this evening - more news as it comes in.
