Artist's impression of new clock:

 "Marvellous"

Casio has released this artist's impression of how Langport Town Clock will look when it comes back.

The Victorian timepiece has been removed this month for a much-needed facelift.

"Marvellous" said town council leader Val Saunders, "will it beep on the hour as well?"

In the meantime several Langporters appear to be suffering from what Doctor Balai has diagnosed as 'clock withdrawal symptoms': looking up to check the time and panicking when they only see a wooden stump.

"I have prescribed most sufferers of CWS with a brisk walk round to the library where its outside wall clock is still working perfectly" said the doctor, as he got to level 5 of Grand Theft Auto on the big screen at the surgery.

Casio says it hopes to have the refurbished clock back before the end of the month, although the question of the rotten oak beam still has to be resolved.

"Oh we've got plenty of those" said a member of staff at the Langport Arms, "help yourself"

LANGPORT BOAT HIRE

With autumn just around the corner, there are just two weekends left to take one of our canoes, kayaks or pedalos out on the River Parrett from near Bow Bridge.

No booking necessary, just turn up.

😊

KEEP TUESDAY EVENING FREE

Langport Town Council is applying for a £200,000 European grant to build a boardwalk along this riverbank pathway stretching from Cocklemoor to Black Bridge. The money would also be used to build bird hides, improve slipways into the water for kayaks/canoes etc and for new signage.

If you have a view on this, get down to Great Bow Wharf at 6pm on Tuesday for an open public meeting or 'town forum' where you can hear more about it from town councillors and other interested parties.
