Traffic and travel news:

Lengthy delays in Aller as filming begins on new series of Last of the Summer Wine.

Drivers were held up in Aller this afternoon as the BBC began filming new episodes of long-running comedy Last of the Summer Wine.

As our sneak preview on-set photograph reveals, a fresh batch of actors have been brought in to play the ageing misfits...seen here attempting to push a piano to nearby Langport.

They're also introducing a new character...'Knuckles' McDonald, above right, whose antics are expected to pack a punch with the younger generations...especially festival goers up and down the country.

A BBC spokesman said future storylines would involve a bus and recycling lorry stand-off in Bow Street, a tennis tournament in Drayton, boarding up a video shop and hair salon for 30 years at Brookland Road and a local skittle team thinking an Othery pub is their hotel room.

What? Bit far-fetched BBC...that sorta stuff would never happen around here.

That's it for the moment - scroll down for details of two local events tomorrow...

😊

TUESDAY

Two events for you tomorrow late afternoon and evening:

It's the last monthly classic car gathering of the season on the cricket field at Eli's. Last month over 60 vehicles turned up.

Why not pop down and admire the vintage upholstery your grandparents spent their evenings on after the dances finished at the Langport Arms in the 1950s.

They're there from around 6pm....(not your grandparents....the cars)

😊

It's also the monthly meeting of Langport Town Council tomorrow evening at the town hall.

The chamber is two councillors down at the moment. Both Bernie Graham and Monica Denny resigned over the summer.

Items on tomorrow's agenda include the river project.

- and then towards the end, two issues are to be discussed in private, in other words members of the press and public are to be excluded - this is perfectly legal under current local authority legislation.

The items are i) about the appointment of a new town clerk and ii) about a former market trader.

No further details.

The meeting (of both the town council and town trust) begins at 7pm. Members of the public are allowed to speak at the beginning of proceedings and also, at times, raise their hands to make a point during council discussions.

Go down and take a look, come on, somebody's got to hold them to account!

(Remember Chapelgate)
