Shock and anger as letter 'T' is made redundant.
After laying off around 50 staff over the summer and then advertising for 'new' workers on what look suspiciously like zero-hour contracts, the axe continues to fall on loyal and long-serving members of the team at Langport Tesco this month.
It's been revealed in the last half hour that the letter 'T' in the supermarket's name has been laid off.
Manager for the Tesco Recruitment Department (Hiring & Firing), Mr Frank Spencer, says it's all part of on-going cost-cutting.
"I can confirm we have had to let T go" he said, "but shoppers should have no fear. In the coming weeks we intend to re-advertise the position for a far less experienced letter of the alphabet on a smaller salary"
But he refused to comment on rumours the voice that tells you there's an unexpected item in the bagging area has also been axed.
There are no further details.
