...so we can reach this one.
Does anybody have any ideas on how boaters and anglers can get to this 'easy access to the river' pontoon at Bow Bridge until the waters go down?
It was hoped staff at Langport Boat Hire might bring out the fleet again for the local emergency but they're unavailable.....currently spending a weekend away at Weymouth trying to get pedalos off the beach and in to the van without being noticed.
Here in Langport, we've all seen the river yo-yo up and down over the years - in fact this is nowhere near how high it can sometimes get - what is new though is the fact that the pontoons up and down the Parret are still in place.
"I thought they were going to be taken away for the winter, cleaned up, stored and then brought back out in the spring" said a dog-walker on Cocklemoor.
"No, no, no - that's town council leader Val Saunders" said a passer-by, "you won't see her again til April"
If you have any ideas how members of the public can be shipped to the pontoon, get in touch.
REMINDER:
If anyone's got an hour or more to spare next Sunday 1st December, your help would be welcome to get North Street, Cheapside and Bow Street's Christmas lights up. Folk are meeting at the town hall at 9am but if you can't make it til ten - no worries.
Come on, it's the only chance us Langporters ever get to peer in to people's upstairs windows.
You wouldn't believe what goes on over the St Margaret's Hospice shop, and as for La Fleure...you'll have to read the late night version of Carry On Langport for that one.
