New Langport Town Councillor needed:

Know anyone who'd do it?

There's a seat vacant on Langport Town Council.

If you or anyone you know is interested, you/they have to get the paper work in to Langport Town Clerk by October 16th.

If nobody applies then the council brings in one of their mates....sorry sorry.....we mean a member of the local community to do it. It's called 'co-option'.

The details are hidden away on the https://langport.life/ website.

Many thanks to carryonlangport.blogspot.com reader KG for drawing our attention to it. Never very well publicised, local council vacancies around here, are they?

Spread the word folks, someone's got to!

Local vet sued...

as undercover cameras film patients watching pornography.

There were more claims at Taunton Crown Court this afternoon that a vet in the Langport area has been allowing patients to watch inappropriate material from their cages.

On day 3 of the trial, shocked jurors were shown this image [top] of an allegedly sick dog trying to use a local blog to log in to a live stream from the picnic area at Cartgate Roundabout on the A303.

"It's disgusting" said the Langport-based  POKA Dog Walking Service whose animals were involved.

"My canine clients were promised they could access the late night webcams at Cartgate directly instead of having to go through that daft blogger's website" said Juanita Arvey, who runs the company.

The judge adjourned the trial until tomorrow and the case continues.

There are no further details.

In other news...

Tomorrow on Cocklemoor, let us know how it goes folks.

Here they come...

No application yet, but it looks like the land surveys have begun.

It's happening folks, just as we get used to the sight of lego where a greenfield used to be [Persimmon Homes opposite the former Kelways Inn], now it looks like far many more new homes could be built on land over the road.

Geological surveys appear to have started on the marked land [above and marked on the aerial photograph at top] which is on your left as you go across the Bartletts Elm roundabout in the Somerton direction.

These happen long before any planning application for new homes is put in.

Or is it for an Aldi? Yes please!

Probably houses though, and if Persimmon could fit in just over 80 opposite Kelways - imagine how many could go on this plot.

As soon as a formal application's made, you'll be able to comment on it on the South Somerset District Council website.

Big sigh here at Carry On Langport this evening....here we go again.

Not only is the graffiti God-awful...

...now it turns out they can't spell either.

Langport appears to be suffering an era of what can only be described as 'piss poor graffiti art' this year.

Whether it's the walkway beside the Hanging Chapel, up Priest Lane or the old phone box at the Avenue...nowhere appears to be immune.

'Undustry' seems to be the latest effort from our local amoebas who are two white men, late teens to early 20s, who've been recorded on some local businesses' CCTV in recent weeks.

The boarded up house in North Street was sprayed about 3-4 Wednesday nights ago at around 11:30pm, the pair left the scene by going up Priest Lane where they painted more infantile nonsense.

The railway arches on the viaduct have been covered in illegible mess too this summer.

Carry on Langport has said it before and we'll say it again....if you're going to graffiti local landmarks [which you shouldn't be anyway] at least give us something decent to look at.

This is graffiti:

Not this crock of shite:

Pass it on.

THANK YOU LANGPORT!

A message from Edward Stokes Family Fun Fair...

After 6 days of fun on Cocklemoor, the fair's now moved on to Glastonbury but the organisers have been in touch with Carry On Langport to pass on this:

"Please thank everyone in Langport and Huish for their support and for always making us feel so welcome!"

You're welcome guys, come again soon.

Unfortunately that won't be for another year, so until then kids...

It's back to 'playing' on those farmers gates and old scaffolding that was fly-tipped on Cocklemoor a few years ago.

Brilliant.

Langport Fun Fair

Gates Open at 1pm

Today's [Sunday] hours at the fair ground on Cocklemoor are 1 til 8pm.

Full covid 19 safety rules are in place with rides, their seats, railings and steering wheels all sanitized regularly.

- and in an added security measure, organisers have asked Carry On Langport to remind anyone using the Waltzers to only vomit on members of their own family.

Great little fun fair this one [more rides than last year's] from the Edward Stokes family which has come over from Taunton and expects to be in Glastonbury next week.

Pop down and take a look...don't forget the kids!
