Langport in wartime...

Homeschooling history trivia for the kids:

If any parents fancy going 'off curriculum' for half an hour this week while homeschooling the kids, how about getting them to look in to this one...

During the Second World War, 2 RAF planes collided in mid-air over Langport. One of them crashed in flood water on the edge of the town behind The Avenue near Combe, killing the crew.

What type of planes were they and where were they going to and coming from?

Who was on board? and maybe even find out where they are buried.

Online information is scarce but it's out there.

Nice little local history project maybe?

- and so as not to only concentrate on the doom and the gloom of wartime....see if the kids can find out who got a tank transporter jammed under the Hanging Chapel in the 40s.

Not even sure that's mentioned online, might mean asking Nan and Grandad if they ever heard the story!

Happy local history hunting kids.....and parents....keep battling on, you're doing a grand job 👍
