Sunday Bulletin...

Langport Christmas lights 'listed'

English Heritage says it's "delighted" to announce that the festive illuminations along Cheapside and Bow Street in Langport have now been up so long they've achieved Grade II Listed Status.

Any property or architectural feature with the status cannot be altered or removed without local authority permission....unless of course you're renovating a house on Langport Hill.

In other news...

Turd Lane goes into the record books.

Guiness says it's added this country lane, which connects Westover to the drove along the back of Langport, to its record books this month.

It's estimated dog mess can now be found down either side every two metres along the footpath, the highest figure since records began.

Here they come!

A national survey of the most desirable places to live in the UK has thrown up a surprise.

Look who's come in at number 12...

It means the townie and second home owner count is likely to rise sharply in the coming years as city-dwellers traumatised by the pandemic look for somewhere else to live.

No problem, just don't start moaning about church bells and mud on the roads and shut up about a railway station....we've got a handful in several directions about half an hour's drive away.

New broom at Tesco...

Langport Tesco has welcomed a new manager this year....making a few changes apparently.

Word on the street is the supermarket's also started stocking ruffled feathers.

Riverside dweller given his marching orders

He's been down there at Black Bridge for over a year but has now had a letter [left on his windscreen apparently - nothing like the personal touch eh] from the town council telling him unless he moves on legal action will be taken to evict him.

How much is that gonna cost then? Thought our town council was skint!

The council acted after complaints from a handful of residents.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of living in a public place in your camper van, shouldn't there be a sign down there that actually says "No overnight camping" before we start leaving letters on windscreens?

and finally....

STERLING WORK

Well done to what must be Langport's two oldest businesses the Black Swan and The Langport Arms.

Still battling on and keeping our tummies full with their scrummy Sunday roast takeaways.

Support your local pubs when they reopen folks! and maybe even give staff at the Arms a hand with their spelling...

That's it for now, thanks for the contributions and carry on Langport...carry on!
