PANIC AT ST MARY'S

To Pray Or Not To Pray?

The vicar, bellringers and choir held late night emergency talks at Huish Episcopi church last night amid concerns they might have to cancel this morning's Sunday service.

The lights were seen glowing well in to night at St Mary's [pictured] as they tried to rectify an application they'd made to the Bishop's Palace in Wells to start 15 minutes later every Sunday morning for the rest of the summer.

"Unfortunately one of our church wardens forgot to tick the box to say that there'd be prayers" said the Reverend Emery.

The situation was rescued when a 'sympathetic' member of the Bishop's staff realised it was a genuine error, ticked the box for them and so the service can go ahead this morning at the new later time.

"What a relief" said the vicar, "and what a pity they haven't got people like that at county hall in Taunton"

"It's bloody marvellous" said local bellringer Billy Langford, "and to celebrate - I spent the whole night up buffing my clapper"

Marvellous indeed, panic over, carry on praying everyone!

SIT STILL CHILDREN!

Another gem of an old school photograph has surfaced.

This time it's High Ham primary in 1977.

Believe it or not, that's the entire school! Albeit with a few absentees.

See anyone you know?

Thanks to Claire Newman for the picture.

😊

Finally this morning....

Another documentary style video of Langport has been discovered online.

Nothing along the lines of the old BBC Bristol film we uncovered some weeks ago, in fact the presenter in this one appears to have done very little research at all - which in an odd way makes it all the more fun!

And if you think you recognise the voice and the face, well yes you'd be right, this appears to be something David Walliams handed in for the final year of his Film Studies course at Huish Academy.

Another great find!

BRILLIANT!

(Even though that's one of the most random films about our town many of us have ever seen)

Well done David.

😊

That's your Sunday bulletin folks!

Who's staying up (or getting up?) at 1am for the footy then?

We've e-mailed the England team this morning to make sure they've ticked the box that says

WILL YOU BE SCORING ANY GOALS?
