Pitney music gig CANCELLED

This can't be right, can it?

[scroll to bottom for update and an idea!]

In a bizarre turn of events, this popped up from the organisers of PitFest on social media last night:

The organisers have told Carry On Langport it's due to a 'small' paper work error in the licensing application which can easily be fixed apparently.

But Somerset Council will not budge so it's off.

Absolutely incredible.

This is all we know so far

Wonder if the two chaps who represent the area on Somerset Council can get involved?

Unless our info's out of date, they are Richard Wilkins and Mike Stanton.

We're waiting for updates but at the moment folks, it's off.

Somerset Council 'there to serve'

(really?)

LATE UPDATE [8:30am]

Somerset councillors were asked to help but couldn't [or wouldn't?]

Organisers convinced there were ways around it but no. Civil servants at Somerset Council would not budge.

So vendors, the bar & food in particular who've already laid out huge amounts of money to feed & water the crowds lose out, the bands and singers are all cancelled and we - Joe Public - miss out on a great annual event.

How about we all turn up with our own stuff and have a dance on the field anyway?

No law against that eh Pitney Playing Fields Committee???
