Saturday Bulletin:

With the Editor taking a much-needed break from his show on local radio, it's made time for a rare Saturday morning report on Carry On Langport - so let's take a brief look at some of the stories currently in the news:

*****

"Unexpected Doctor In Bagging Area"

Fearing how the hot weather may be affecting staff, everyone on the checkouts at a Langport supermarket was treated to a full check-up by a local GP on Thursday - despite it being one of the busiest times of day at the tills.

Doctor Talk said he examined one person but added that the self-service machines were all "coping well"

A spokesman for the local sports & social club is denying the premises were hit by lightning on Thursday night.

"No no no" he told reporters, "those strange holes in the ground at the back of the building next to the former convent's land have been there for ages"

As we all hope and wait for something to happen at the Black Swan, a list has been issued - a round up if you like - of some of the rumours that have flown around town this and last year about the future of the venue.

Let's look at some of what we've heard so far:

[deep breath]

Abattoir owners ABP are having it for accommodation.

Anne Summers has bought it (relocating from Priest Lane)

The owner of the Wyndham Arms at Kingsbury wants it.

'Someone' in Aller is after it.

A couple 'from Bristol' has taken it on.

The sports club's after it (but only if it can dig a line of trenches in the neighbouring GP surgery)

A 'born & bred' couple are taking it on saying they want to make it a rough & ready country pub for locals and visitors alike. They'll be changing its name though and have narrowed it down to either 'The Not Frome Arms' or 'The Not Bruton Inn'

And in the last 48 hours it's emerged the King & Queen are considering throwing at least a million pounds at it - and then not even moving in.

 😄

Phew - what a random collection. What we can all definitely agree on though is that we just want it open eh.

If you'd like to add to the rumour mill, let us all know in the comments section on Facebook.

and finally this Saturday morning a message to local youngsters from the Vicar of the Parish of Cocklemoor & Bow:

"In this hot weather, it's wonderful to see you children out socialising, not staring at your phones, keeping fit and jumping off the bridges in to the river to keep cool.

Many of us did it when we were young, it's what kids and young teenagers do in hot weather, it's important to let you have fun and build some childhood memories like many of us did in that hot summer of 1976.

But for the love of God, take your f*!?@!*g litter home!"

 Blimey, that told'em.

More tea Vicar?

Editor's Note: you can't blame the Vic for being grumpier than usual these days. Used to have a fine residence opposite St Mary's in Huish Episcopi until the buggers in the office at the Bishop's Palace in Wells sold it off.

And where did the money go eh?

Now poor old Reverend Emery's living in a new build. I mean how can you hold a church fete in a Persimmon house?
