"It's banking Jim but not as we know it!"
Langporters have been flocking through the doors of the new business [pictured] which has opened up in the old Natwest Bank this week.
The general manager of the newest Paddy Power branch said she was delighted.
"Januarys are usually quiet" said Dame Miriam Stuckey, "but the sweepstake for when Langport's Christmas lights will come down this year has significantly boosted footfall"
"Locals have already bet almost £50,000 on the question with most aiming at July or even August" she added.
"It's been great fun betting on this year's date" said one excited customer, "thank goodness they don't bother about the tradition of taking the decs down before Epiphany around here...like everywhere else does."
