Here comes Club Day!

Langport Friendly Society publishes its 2022 route:

With a few last minute amendments, this is the route around Langport and Huish the Friendly Society march will take this year.

The charity raises money throughout the year [including on the march so have some cash ready for the buckets] and donates its takings to a number of local causes.

As always lead through the locality by Kingsbury Town Band!

In other news:

Many thanks to Jane Snow [formerly Spinks] who has posted a marvellous selection of photographs of times gone by on the Langport - Where It's To Facebook page in recent days.

Her father used to run Studio Seventy on Bow Street.

Look closely and you might even spot a very young and innocent Carry On Langport editor!

Looking for something to do this weekend?

Just a reminder that 'Cider Saturdays' are now underway at Burrow Hill Farm at Stembridge. The Cider Bus is there all day with live music too and punters are welcome to sit in the nearby orchards, currently filled with spring blossom.

'Cars & Coffee' has become a regular event for classic car enthusiasts, that's a Sunday morning gig at Upton Bridge Farm in Long Sutton from 9 til 12.

Finally this Sunday afternoon, the Halfway House at Pitney sees the return of two popular favourites:

The pub is reviving the Pumpkin growing contest, run by the landlady's father many years ago.

Buy a plant for a fiver, you'll all get one from the same batch of seeds already growing etc, and then bring it back at harvest time in the autumn for a weigh-in.

Sounds like a challenge! [maybe carve it out and put a few bricks inside] Go on, give it a go!

Also at the Halfway this Sunday, the Sloe Gin competition begins at 3:30pm. Bring along anything you've made and the punters have a tipple and fill in a score card [something like that anyway]

That's it for this weekend folks!
