Our final advent window of Christmas 2022 is arguably one of the most iconic photographs ever to come out of Langport.
Printed in the then widely circulated Western Gazette across Somerset and Dorset, this got people laughing at the time and still does.
The classic car was found on the roof of the public toilet block one morning in the 1950s, possibly the early 60s....there aren't many people left around to ask anymore!
It is still around today and owned by a couple in East Sussex [see below] who are well aware of its Langport notoriety.
The what was then modern, but now classic, car down there on the ground belonged to the grand parents of Carry On Langport's editor, their son was one of a handful of the local men responsible for the prank.
As for the star of the show, the Austin Seven, it's now living at Battle, near Hastings where it belongs to this couple who have been in touch with Carry On Langport to say hello.
Happy Christmas to one and all and let's see what our crazy little town brings us in 2023 eh?
