Hold your hands out....

....and now let us slap your wrists.

After several months of 'slow' trouble followed by a marked escalation in recent days, there's been a heavy police presence in Langport this weekend as a handful of members of the public and staff at local businesses dialled 999 yet again to deal with a small group of young troublesome [and most probably troubled] children.

Vandalism, abuse and blatant shoplifting were on the youngsters' agenda.

The One Stop Shop and Tesco were among the retailers which called in the boys and girls in blue.

One of many social media posts about the problems last week.

A police van, cars and several bobbies were seen around Tesco last night.

However, whether or not any arrests were made, readers will be well aware that here in the UK our legal system will most probably only be giving them a slap on the wrists.

As many people have commented on social media and in conversation, back in the day there were other ways of dealing with young misbehaviour in society which acted as a punishment, example and warning to any of the next generation who made trouble - and in many countries those means still exist.

Not today here in modern Britain though folks.

So for the time being we're stuck with it I'm afraid.

Let's just pray dear old Langport and its small number of troubled youngsters are simply going through a phase which will end sometime soon eh.

Here's hoping.

That's your Sunday sermon done and dusted.

Thanks for the contributions.
