"UNEXPECTED BARRIER IN ENTRANCE AREA"

Late Edit: after posting, we were informed this is more about stopping people leaving with trollies filled with groceries without paying rather than what's written below. We also understand they were removed soon after because the wrong size had been fitted!

In a society which is no longer capable of punishing, warning or setting an example to school age criminals - this is the lengths our local supermarket has gone to in its attempts to reduce incidents of shoplifting, abuse and vandalism by a tiny group of troublemakers.

As well as making life rather inconvenient for people with pushchairs, on mobility scooters and in wheelchairs - we're not completely sure how this system stops a potential troublemaker getting in when all he [it's usually a 'he'] has to do is appear to act like a regular customer.

We'll let you lot argue that one out in the comments section on Carry On Langport's facebook page.

Finally, regarding messages to Carry On Langport in recent days suggesting vigilante action, readers do not need to be reminded that taking the law in to your own hands is illegal.

Taking their bicycles and scooters off them and throwing them off Bow Bridge or flattening them with a digger is against the law.

So would dragging the culprits down to the moor and dunking them in a ditch full of duck weed for 30 seconds every afternoon until the trouble ceases.

We really cannot condone that sort of behaviour, that really would be a bad idea.

[Especially if you got caught]

Like we said a few posts ago, hopefully Langport is just going through a funny 5 minutes and this little blip will come to an end sometime very soon.

Thanks for all the contributions, a handful of which were rather naughty but nevertheless highly entertaining.

 - and well done for trying Tesco. Not sure it'll work, but well done for trying.
