But what exactly was that on the river bed?
Thanks to the Environment Agency's efforts last weekend [pictured] the dangerous underwater obstacles tucked in next to Bow Bridge's stonework have finally been pulled out.
The issue was highlighted last summer when there were fears young swimmers jumping off the bridge on the Bridge Canteen side might impale themselves.
So what exactly was dragged out?
Looks like concrete blocks with sawn off metal poles in them, possibly from back when scaffold was once erected alongside the crossing.
Other items were also removed including an old 1970s set of Langport traffic lights [still stuck on red], the till from 'Hair By John' and Hughie Foreacre's chopper.
But some mysterious objects are reportedly still embedded deep in the mud and can't be removed.
The beautiful gold-plated weather vane that until 15-20 years ago adorned the spire on top of All Saints Hall on North Street maybe?
"No such luck" said D.C.I Brace of the Yard [pictured], "we think that's still in someone's garage somewhere in Langport or Huish Episcopi."
Intriguing.
That's your Thursday bulletin folks!
But just before we go, a reminder, the Met Office has issued an amber hippy alert for the whole of the Thorney area near Muchelney this weekend as we celebrate the Green Scythe Fair 2023.
You've been warned.
There are no further details.
